Inline Hockey Affiliation Update

Published Fri 18 Jun 2021

In December 2020 and in consultation with Karen Doyle, President, Skate Australia and Duane Voss, Chair, Inline Hockey Australia, the Skate South Australia Board of Management advised the South Australian Inline Hockey Community there would need to be affiliated clubs in South Australia for there to be pathways for players and officials, to state and national competitions.

Soon after, long time South Australian inline hockey player, Joseph Jeffries reached out to discuss the future of inline hockey in South Australia.

Since then we have been working with Joseph and his team to see their new club, Adelaide All Stars Skate Club, become affiliated with Skate South Australia.

First step was for the club to become an incorporated entity. In February this year Joseph and his team applied for incorporation of their club with the Government of South Australia.

Delays within the government’s department saw this process take much longer than expected. Incorporation was granted in June and the club applied for affiliation with Skate South Australia on 6th June.

On 10th June the Skate South Australia Board of Management met with three of the club’s committee members and we talked through the objectives of the new club and the steps to affiliation.

At this stage there is work to be done to finalise the club’s affiliation. We see this as a matter of process and have agreed it will take time. As there is currently no affiliated inline hockey club in South Australia, the Skate SA Board of Management has decided to form a Working Group to manage the process of getting South Australian participants to this year’s Nationals.

Working Group for Nationals

Independent Sports Consultant, Jeff Dry will chair the Working Group, which will include:

  • Jackie Blyth – State Development Officer, Skate South Australia
  • Duane Voss – Chair, Inline Hockey Australia
  • Representative from Adelaide All-Stars Skate Club
  • Members of the South Australian Inline Hockey Community

To achieve the objective of getting South Australian players to this year’s Nationals it will require the involvement of members of the South Australian Inline Hockey Community.

How you can help

To ensure we have the necessary skills involved we are asking anyone within the South Australian Inline Hockey Community that can volunteer to assist, to please let us know by completing this form by 5pm Wednesday 22nd June.

If you cannot commit to the Working Group but still want to be involved please also let us know by completing this form by 5pm Wednesday 22nd June.
